On November 18, 2019 at the Rectorate of Plovdiv University “Paisii Hilendarski, Plovdiv” was held a conference “COMPETENCE-BASED EDUCATION AND PEDAGOGY OF THE 21ST CENTURY”.
The forum was dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Department of Pedagogy and Education Management at the Faculty of Pedagogy of Plovdiv University “Paisii Hilendarski”.
The conference was attended by lecturers from pedagogical faculties of Bulgarian universities, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, municipal educational administrations and experts from Regional offices of education, teachers and directors of educational institutions, representatives of employers ‘organizations and teachers’ unions, NGOs, PhD students and students. They were greeted by the Vice-Rector of Paisii Hilendarski University of Plovdiv, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maria Stoyanova, who read a congratulatory address by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Rumen Mladenov, Prof. Dr. Vladimira Angelova, Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy. at the university and Ph.D. Yanka Takeva, President of the Union of Bulgarian Teachers.
The Minister of Education and Science Krassimir Valchev said that the higher schools that train teachers will change their approach – the staff who will graduate there must have a wide range of competencies in addition to the basic ones.
The figure of the teacher in the 21st century must provoke students’ interest in learning, and principals must stimulate creative teachers, and this is the transition that education systems are making from the past to the present century.
The project „Training of teachers as inclusive education ambassadors“ and the achieved results were presented by prof. Levterova.
